A preliminary hearing for Trace Wells, a former Grand County School District substitute teacher and coach accused of raping two female high school students, has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. before Judge Lyle Anderson in 7th District Court in Moab, court officials said this week.

The preliminary hearing had originally been scheduled for Aug. 18.

Wells, 24, who is currently free on bail, has been charged with a total of nine felony counts: two counts of rape and two counts of object rape, each of which is a first-degree felony, along with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of enticing a minor over the Internet, and one count of forcible sexual abuse, all second-degree felonies. Prosecutors allege that Wells had an improper sexual relationship with the two girls.
