The Grand County School District Facilities and Lands Committee has met twice to discuss possible revision of the school district’s master plan. The purpose of the committee is to review long-term facility and land issues as they relate to future capital expenditures for the district, according to a news release from the committee.

The committee is made up of community members and school district staff, and was originally formed to address the future of the Red Rock Elementary property, according to the news release. But committee officials say that focus has now been broadened to include an examination of infrastructure problems at Grand County Middle School, and other unmet needs district-wide.

Community members who are interested in this process are invited to join the committee. Committee members must commit to attending two meetings per month for the next 18 months, and be willing to research assigned topics for discussion, according to the news release.

The hour-long meetings are held in the Zions Bank basement every other Tuesday. The next committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug.17 at 1 p.m. and anyone who is interested in becoming involved is encouraged to attend.
