Signs vandalized at construction site An employee of a sign company that provides signs for construction along 500 West reported that 23 signs were damaged overnight on July 16, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
The employee said the signs appeared to have been struck with blunt object, and that a resident in the area reported seeing teenage boys with a baseball bat in the area recently, according to the report.
Damage to the signs was estimated at $1,150.
Teens cited for underage drinking Two Moab teenagers were taken into custody July 16 after witnesses told police the boys entered a local bar by climbing on a patio roof and sneaking inside. The two boys, ages 18 and 19, ran away after a bar employee asked them to show identification, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
Witnesses told police that a bar patron bought the boys several drinks while they were inside the establishment, according to the report.
Break-in reported on 100 West Residents of a home on 100 West told police their house was broken into on July 15 and cash was stolen, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department. The couple told police that a vase filled with change totaling about $50 to $100 was taken from the home, but nothing else appeared to be missing, according to the report.
One of the residents also said a cooler was stolen from the porch of the home several months earlier.
Wallet stolen from restaurant An employee of a Main Street eaterie contacted police on July 11 to report that her wallet had been stolen by a young girl who had been coming into the restaurant and receiving free meals. The employee told police that when the girl came in that day she stole the wallet from the employee’s purse, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
A relative of the employee later found the girl and retrieved the wallet, but about $77 in cash was missing, according to the report. The girl apparently left receipts for the expenditures in the wallet, the report stated. Restaurant employees said they did not know the girl’s name or any other information about her, according to the report.
Downtown Art gallery reports theft A Main Street art gallery reported that a man walked out of the store on July 10 with a photograph tucked under his shirt. A patron of a neighboring restaurant alerted gallery employees to the theft after he saw the man remove the picture from beneath his shirt and walk away.
The man was gone when police arrived at the gallery, but a search of the area was conducted by several officers, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
The photograph was valued at $265, according to the report.
Swanny City Park restrooms vandalized A Moab city employee asked police to increase patrols at Swanny City Park after he discovered damage to the vent screens at the park’s restrooms, and found graffiti painted on the walls. The employee also reported that irrigation sprinklers were broken. He said the vandalism is an ongoing problem at the park, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.
The damaged items were valued at $60, according to the report.
