Abuse of power...

Twice, the Grand County Board of Education has tried to raise our property taxes, and twice the people have spoken – no more taxes. Now, members of the board of education say they are going to put it back on the ballot a third time come November.

This is an outrage and an abuse of power to the extreme. We no longer have a democracy but a dictatorship. The law that enables the board of education to simply disregard the voice of the people needs to be changed, and changed now.

No one should have this kind of power. At least not in America. Our entire nation is in financial trouble, and we cannot cure it by raising taxes.

“Man is not free unless Government is limited. As Government expands, liberty contracts.” — Ronald Reagan

“For a Nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket, and trying to lift himself up by the handle.” —Winston Churchhill

If this leeway comes back up on the ballot, I think this community needs to recall the ENTIRE school board and start over because this bunch are obviously clueless. Not only do I question their integrety, I now question their intelligence. And if they do not understand and respect the fact that the voters have spoken loud and clear, again and again, then I don't want them anywhere near my kids, because they obviously do not have the kind of character and ethics that are required for the job.
