Ill. man injured in bike crash

An Illinois man was injured July 1 when he crashed his mountain bike while riding on the Bar M loop north of Moab. The man, 47, received injuries to his right hip. He managed to call for help but was unable to move from his location, according to a report from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Grand County Search and Rescue team, Grand County emergency medical workers and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene. The man was transported by helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. He was later transferred to a hospital in Denver, Colo. for treatment, according to the report.



Bicycle reported stolen

A Moab woman contacted police on June 12 to report that her son’s bicycle had been stolen from the family’s garage during a birthday party for her son.

The red and black Norco bicycle was parked in the garage at the time, and the woman said a large number of people were at the home for the party, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.

Later, the family contacted police again to report that they had found the bicycle parked in a bike rack at Star Hall on Center Street. Police responded to the scene and returned the bicycle to the boy. The bike was valued at $400.

Man arrested for intoxication

A Moab man was arrested June 13 for public intoxication after police were called to a residence on Walker Street on a report of a family fight.

Officers who arrived at the scene reported that the man, 38, had been fighting with his brother. Both men lived at the home, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department. The brother told police that the man was drunk and kept coming into his bedroom and waking him in the night, according to the report.

Window broken at mobile home

Moab City Police officers responded to a report of a window being shot out of a mobile home on Williams Way. The resident of the trailer, a Moab woman, 28, said her back door window was shot out sometime during the day.

Police investigating determined that the window was most likely broken out by a BB fired from a BB gun, according to a report from the police department.

The window was valued at $50.

Signs stolen from construction site

A sign and two drum lights were reported stolen from a construction site on 500 West and 400 North, according to a report from the Moab City Police Department.

The “Bump” sign was reportedly stolen from the worksite along 400 North and two drum lights were taken the same night from the construction area at Park Drive and 500 West, according to the report.

The sign and lights were valued at $360.
