Local dancers win top honors at national competition

All five team dance troupes of Moab’s Simply Dance Company took first place during the national dance competition at Lagoon this past weekend, May 14-15.

Jayelen Knowles, Alexa Pierce and Delanee Olsen danced a trio and took first place. Emree and Delanee Olsen danced a duet together and took second place. Melissa Jackson took second place with her solo.

Soloists Sydney Lema, Ashley Kennedy and Emree Olsen took first place honors in their individual divisions and soloists Shaley Larsen, Aubri Russell, Baelie Pierce, Corteney Noyes, Katie McFarland and Meacie Pierce placed first in their Queen divisions.

Simply Dance studio also received the Overall Studio Grand Champions award.

The girls will be performing their dances at the Grand County High School auditorium on Wednesday, May 19, at 7 p.m.
