Grand County High School student Logan Lewis was recently named the recipient of a $100 scholarship savings account from Zions Bank’s “Pays for A’s” program. Lewis received the surprise news about the scholarship from Zions Bank’s Moab branch manager Beth McCue, assistant manager Chantell Murphy and GHCS Associate Principal Lance LeVar last month.

Open to all Utah and Idaho students ages 13 through 18, Zions Pays for A’s offers cash incentives for good grades. Teen students are asked to bring their most recent term-end report cards from the current academic year into any Zions Bank location. They receive $1 per “A” deposited into their Teengreen savings accounts, or .50 cents per “A” if they opt for cash.

For each “A” on their report cards, students receive automatic entries into one of 152 annual drawings for scholarship prizes worth up to $1,000, according to a news release from Zions Bank.

Earlier this year, Lewis brought his report card with at least one “A” grade into Zions Bank’s Moab office. His name was selected randomly in a drawing among entrants from that branch.

“At Zions Bank, we understand that it takes community support to foster successful futures for our young people,” said McCue. “That’s why we want to help local teachers and parents in their efforts to encourage teens to do their very best in school.”

Students have until July 9 to submit their most recent term report cards for the $1,000 statewide scholarship savings account drawing, Zions Bank officials said. Students do not have to be customers of Zions to participate.
