Utah Arts Council (UAC) Executive Director Margaret Hunt has announced that 37 Utah nonprofit organizations ‒ including groups in Moab and Bluff ‒  will receive more than $47,000 through the Utah Arts Council Grants Program to advance the arts throughout the state.

"The arts are a unique and valuable resource; they have the ability to greatly strengthen the social and economic health of our communities," said Hunt. "This is vital to our development as a state. It is the Utah Arts Council's ongoing goal to ensure all Utahns have access to the financial and technical resources needed to bring the arts to their communities."

The Friends of the Moab Folk Festival and the Moab Arts and Recreation Center each will receive $1,500. The Bluff Arts Festival and St. Christopher's Mission in Bluff were awarded $2,000.

A total of 41 applications were submitted for the 2008 nonprofit grant program. The programs funded in the 2008 grants cycle hail from American Fork, Bluff, Boulder, Bountiful, Brigham City, Ft. Duchesne, Heber, Hurricane, Kanab, Kearns, Layton, Lehi, Logan, Magna, Mayfield, Moab, Mt. Carmel, Park City, Pleasant Grove, Richfield, Salt Lake City, Smithfield, and West Valley City.
