Cat rescue...

I want to thank whomever found and/or picked up our fat, gray, cat and took him to the shelter last Friday, Aug. 31. He was found behind Wells Fargo Bank, a fair distance from home.

He has a pin in his back leg (he was mauled by a dog as a kitten), no front claws, ( the vet declawed him before we rescued him), all in all not too well-equipped for the rigors of street cat life. He has always been an indoor cat, not too brave or too much of a journeyer. He hasn't ever attempted a Houdini impression before.

He has been a friend and faithful listener for nine years and never has complained at the fraility of the human condition as long as he had food and water.

He's a good and brave soldier; he lives also with two springer spaniels, (one who hates cats), so he's pretty resourceful in the self-protection arena.

Thank you again to whomever found him, and thanks to the shelter workers for making his brief escape as pleasant as possible.
