Moab artist Serena Supplee will join Canyonlands Field Institute for an overnight river trip  in Westwater Canyon Sept. 21-22. The event, sponsored by Friends of Canyonlands Field Institute, is a fundraiser for CFI's school programs

CFI Founding Director and naturalist, Karla VanderZanden will join Supplee for the trip, which explores the connection between art and the natural landscape. The trip provides participants with an opportunity to see the river through the artist's eyes and celebrate Autumn Equinox on the Colorado River. Vocalist and river guide, Melissa Crabtree will be on hand to perform "river" songs in camp from her upcoming CD, which features a cover designed by Supplee.

Supplee's will demonstrate watercolor painting techniques, while VanderZanden offers insights into Westwater history, fall wildflowers and what's new at CFI. The two-day weekend  trip originates in Moab on Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m. and returns by 5 p.m. the following day.
