The Diamondbacks came from behind to defeat the Astros 6-5 last Wednesday, clinching Moab City Recreation's Falcon League title in the process.

"Every time we've played each other this season, it's been neck and neck," said Diamondbacks coach Jamie Guynn of her team and the Astros, who are coached by Stephanie Haycock. Team sponsors are Roughneck Fencing for the Diamondbacks and Beeman Drilling for the Astros.

The teams in the three-team league, which also included the Royals, were made up of girls who just completed the third and fourth grades.

In last week's deciding game, the Astros jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Diamondbacks rallied to tie the game 3-3. The Astros then took advantage of several bases on balls to regain the lead 5-3. In the bottom of the final inning, however, the D-Backs came back, with Kwincey Wells hitting in Beilee Pilibosian for the game-winning RBI.

The win allowed the Diamondbacks to finish their season with an 8-2 record, and qualified them for the state tournament, which will take place the second week of July in Spanish Fork.

The Diamondbacks and other local league winners will soon be holding fundraising drives (such as bake sales, car washes, raffles, etc.) to help raise money to go to state.
