Moab’s Swanny City Park will come alive for the Memorial Day weekend with artists, music, and enter-tainers, providing two days of activities. This is the 13th year of the festival and organizers promise it will be the best ever.

Over 100 artists from 10 states have registered to be in attendance, including a number from Moab. The music side of the festival promises to be equally as exciting, with over 50 performers scheduled to play a wide variety of music.

Three stages will be used for entertainment over the course of the two days, and something will be going on continuously on at least one of them. The music ranges from Moab’s own Taiko drummers, a traditional favorite, to an eight-piece Moab band called Phil Dirt playing a mix of blues and jazz. The Moab community dance band is also scheduled to perform.

Not to be overlooked is the

food court, with everything from barbecue to Thai cuisine being offered. Homemade cookies and flavored roasted nuts are among the snack items to be prepared.

Moab artists Cathy Cooney, Scott Anderson, Bonnie Bower and David and James Eggeling will be showing their art. This year artists will be coming from as far away as Kansas and California, with all of the intermountain states rep-resented. While a number of the artists will be attending for the first time, many have been coming back year after year. Attendance at the festival continues to grow each year and is about equally split between local Moabite’s and visitors in town for the Memorial Day weekend.

The Canyonlands Arts Council and the City of Moab sponsor the Moab Arts Festival.
