The public is encouraged to attend the Forum to share personal stories, and to learn more about the past, present and future of nuclear weapons programs.
The presentation will specifically discuss the administration’s $96 million request for nuclear weapons programs, which would fund upgrades to make the Nevada Test Site ready for nuclear tests in a shorter period of time. The money would also fund studies into new and more readily usable nuclear weapons.
“It is astounding and tragic that even though the federal government has yet to fully compensate those who were affected by the first round of nuclear testing, the current Administration has requested millions of dollars to fund activities that could create a second generation of Downwinders,” said Vanessa Pierce, Program Director for HEAL Utah and coordinator for DONT.
