Moab City Recreation’s three competitive girls’ softball leagues have completed their regular seasons, with the first-place finishers each heading to the state tournament.

In the Falcon league (third and fourth grades), the Tigers took first with a 10-2 record, followed by the Royals (7-5) and the Astros (2-10), according to city recreation director John Geiger.

In the Filly league (fifth and sixth grades), the Cardinals took first place with a 7-4 record, just a half game ahead of the second-place Blue Jays, who finished 7-5. The Red Sox ended up in third place at 3-8.

In the Fox league (girls in seventh, eighth, and ninth grades), the Reds placed first with a 6-2 record against the other two Moab teams. The Cubs and Indians ended up tied for second with 3-5 records against the Moab competition (that league also included two teams from Blanding and one from Monticello).

In boys baseball, the three competitive leagues will finish playing by July 6, but the Pony league (boys in seventh, eighth, and ninth grade) has already determined its winner.

The Braves had a 4-0 record against the other two Moab teams, and will therefore represent Moab at state, Geiger said. The Dodgers were 1-2 against Moab teams and the A’s were 0-3.

The four-team Mustang league (boys in third and fourth grades) will take the top two teams to the state tournament. As of Tuesday, June 30, the Nationals were in first place with a season record of 8-1, followed by the Mariners at 6-3. The Brewers were in third place at 2-6-1 and the Yankees were fourth at 1-7-1.

The three-team Pinto league (boys in fifth and sixth grades) is still up for grabs, with the Angels in first place with a 6-3 record. The Rockies were in second place with a 5-5 season record, and the Red Sox were in third at 3-6 with three games remaining for each team.

The league champion may be decided on the last game of the season when the Rockies play the Red Sox at 7 p.m. on July 6.
