The Grand County High School boys basketball team lost its last chance at making the state playoffs last Tuesday, Feb. 17, dropping a 46-30 decision to the North Sevier Wolves in a game played at Green River.

The “play-in” game was scheduled because both teams finished with identical 1-11 records in Region 12 play. Each team had defeated the other once during the regular season, accounting for their only wins.

In last week’s third and final meeting between the teams this season, Grand led 17-16 at the half and trailed by just two points heading into the final period. However, North Sevier outscored the Red Devils 21-7 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Shane Yuhas of Grand led all scorers with 12 points as the Red Devils finished their season with a 1-22 overall record.

North Sevier went on to advance in the 2A playoffs as a No. 6 seed, but lost in the first round on Feb. 21 at Snow College to Region 14 champion Layton Christian by the score of 86-50.
