Canyonlands Field Institute will be offering an additional August summer camp in the La Sal Mountains for local youth. The Young Explorers Summer Camp will be held Aug. 24-27, and will include three nights and four days at the base camp, located near Warner Lake, as well as hiking in the La Sals and whitewater rafting on the Colorado River.
During the first three days of camp, CFI naturalists and campers will explore the mountains by hiking, playing games and participating in hands-on, educational activities, according to a news release from CFI. On the last day of camp, the group will raft the Colorado River, starting near Fisher Towers and ending at Rocky Rapid, by Sorrel River Ranch.
Group size is limited to 12 children per camp, and the cost is $100 per child, with some scholarships available. CFI offers 10 percent off for siblings from the same family.
